Not posted for some time so well overdue.

Here's a selection of pictures taken over the summer:

Beds is great for bikes.

... and birds. This Hobby was taken at The Lodge at Sandy.

Snipe at Titchwell. Digiscoped at well over 300 yards.

Egyptian goose - Titchwell

Spotted Redshank - Titchwell

Greenshank - Titchwell. Love the reflection.

This may well be a Wood Sandpiper (but I could be wrong). Titchwell.

Sunset - Arlesey

My beautiful bike again.

Finally a Yellow Wagtail, Arlesey.

Anglesey

A week in Anglesey was largely spent looking at ancient monuments with my wife - stone circles, burial chambers, standing stones, but I did get the chance to take a few birds.

Southstack lighthouse is near Ellen's Point, an RSPB reserve with views of Guillimots, Razorbills and a small number of Puffins.

The Puffins are the stars.

Whitethroats were singing from almost every vantage point it seemed.

I was dead choughed captering these:

The pipits are meadows I think.

I was very please to capture the Stonechat.

Cemlyn is famous for it's Tern colony. Some Common Terns and the odd Arctic but mainly Sandwich Terns.

And the odd seal.

A Buzzard and it's Greenfinch pal complete my Anglesey shots.

Woodpecker

First I took my bike in to have the chain tightened. I couldn't move the nut on the rear tyre!

Good ride home.

Great views
Got home and decided to get my scope out to digiscope a great spotted woodpecker's hole to see if I could get some shots of the chick and mother.

Finally the mother turns up
And the chick gets fed!
Well worththe wait.

A trip round Wimpole Hall gardens the next day.

And then I bought my DSLR

2nd Test

Lords for me this Friday. And what a scorcher. It was actually too hot to be comfortable in the Compton Stand.

Bit of green on the wicket?

Trotski comes to the crease earlier than expected

Maharoof's on fire! - Not really, he was boundary fodder.

Tha pavillion's a picture - if only I'd got it all in!
Morgan's innings was the highlight of the day for me.

An absolutely top days cricket. We thought Dilshan was mad sticking England in to bat but at 22 for 3 it looked inspired. Not so at the end of the day with England's batters finishing on top. Will there be a result on this flat wicket however? (At time of writing there's one day to go and a result is still possible but my money would be on the draw.)
